Cheerios Heart Month Giveaway

As I mentioned earlier this month, February is Cheerios Heart Month. Did you know that eating Cheerios is a great way to lower cholesterol and take care of your heart?? Both original Cheerios cereal and Honey Nut Cheerios cereal contain beta-glucan, a soluble fibre in whole grain oats. This is one specific type of fibre that has been shown in scientific research to help lower cholesterol. This oat fibre acts like a "sponge," soaking up some of the cholesterol in the body so that the body can get rid of it naturally. Lowering cholesterol can lower the risk of clogged arteries and heart disease.

So, something you probably enjoy doing, (eating those delicious Cheerios) is helping your heart! You probably didn't even know it!! Cheerios is also very excited to announce that it has launched it's new site Cheerios.ca, which is packed full of great heart healthy information on cholesterol, ideas on how to lower it and even some pretty yummy recipes. General Mills and Cheerios would like to help one of you, start on the right path to a healthy heart, by giving one lucky HunWFD reader a Cheerios Prize Pack (approx $50 value) which includes

  • 4 heart shaped bowls
  • 1 box of Cheerios
  • 1 box of Honey Nut Cheerios
  • 1 box of the brand new Family sized Chocolate Cheerios
All you need to do, to enter, is share your favourite Heart Healthy tip with us. How easy is that? Contest period is February 7 through 29th 2012 and is open to Canadian residents only. Readers can enter across multiple blogs but only win once.

    My heart healthy tip is to eat fish at least once a week. Fish is rich in omega fatty acids which are great for cardiovascular health.
